Why Do You Need a “Medical Tourism Facilitator”

Suppose that you or someone you love urgently needs affordable surgical care.  You have researched options on the internet, spoken with others whom you respect, and finally decide that you will schedule that care abroad.  Now What?

For most potential surgical patients, the myriad of issues which must be considered at this point is daunting, especially given the stakes, and patients have come to rely on “medical tourism facilitators” – companies that connect surgical patients with hospitals from over 50 countries around the world.

How are these “medical tourism facilitators” able to provide the quality assurances that patients are looking for before they embark on an international surgical experience with their health (and life) in the balance?  The answer is simple: they rely on the international accreditations of the hospitals which they represent, most notably the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, which is considered to be the strongest accreditation achievable for a healthcare institution, worldwide.

If you, having made the decision to schedule surgery abroad, agree with many patients and most medical tourism facilitators that no assurances beyond the JCI accreditation are necessary in order for you to proceed, then you actually do not need a medical tourism facilitator.

Be the Facilitator!

On their website, the JCI lists more than 200 hospitals in at least 50 different countries around the world that have achieved JCI accreditation status.  Simply choose your preferred destination, click through the JCI website to the English-language website of the accredited hospital(s) in that country, and directly call (Skype) their international patient department.  These hospitals (having invested significant resources in obtaining JCI accreditation) each have an in-house medical tourism (international patient) department that is capable of professionally assisting you with all of the details necessary to get you to their hospital for your procedure, including package pricing and assistance with travel and accommodations for you and your family.

However, we at ISA Surgical believe that your choice of surgeons will be the most significant determining factor in the outcome of your surgical procedure, and that travel distances involving major surgical procedures matter.  If you agree, then ISA Surgical is your most viable alternative to the mainstream “medical tourism” industry as an international provider of high quality, affordable surgical solutions.
