Cardiovascular surgeons correct problems related to the heart and the large blood vessels of the body. ISA Surgical works with cardiovascular surgeons who have training and experience with advanced surgical procedures, are board-certified, and have many years of experience in performing complex heart surgeries.
Interventional Cardiology
- Angiography
An angiogram is a radiographic study of the heart, coronary arteries, peripheral arteries, and other blood vessels. A dye is injected into the bloodstream for this procedure, which produces a very detailed diagnostic picture. - Angioplasty
Angioplasty involves the implantation of stents into coronary arteries. A stent is a metal slotted tube that provides support to keep a blood vessel wide open. Drug-eluting stents are coated with medications that can help prevent an artery from re-clogging (restenosis) after angioplasty or surgery. - Myocardial biopsy
Myocardial biopsy is a technique in which the physician uses special forceps to remove a tiny piece of heart tissue. The tissue is then analyzed for clues about the patient’s heart disease.
Ischemic Heart Disease
Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery (also called CABG or Open Heart Bypass Surgery) is performed to treat coronary artery disease, which is often manifest by chest pain and heart attacks.
- Traditional Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
The heart-lung bypass machine is used during this surgery to keep oxygenated blood flowing throughout the body during surgery. - Modern Beating-Heart Surgery, or Off-Pump Coronary Bypass
This coronary artery bypass surgery is performed without the cardiopulmonary bypass machine. The heart is beating during surgery, but is stabilized to provide an almost still work area in which to connect the conduit vessel that bypasses the blockage. - Minimally-Invasive and Robotic Bypass Surgery
This is a new form of heart surgery where a machine is used to perform surgery while being controlled by the heart surgeon. The main advantage is the size of the incision made in the patient.

Valvular Heart Disease
Repair and replacement of heart valves is required to treat a variety of heart valve problems, including aortic insufficiency, aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, mitral stenosis, mitral valve prolapse, pulmonary valve stenosis, tricuspid regurgitation, and tricuspid valve stenosis.

Meet our Cardiac Surgeons
ISA Surgical has raised the bar for medical tourism in Mexico by working only with cardiovascular surgeons who meet our standards which include board-certification, training and experience with advanced cardiothorasic surgical procedures and who have demonstrated their expertise in performing complex heart surgeries.
Dr. Octavio Victal Adame, M.D. has performed as many as 500 cases per year during his 30 year career specializing in cardiothoracic surgery. He enjoys hospital privileges throughout Mexico and works primarily from his practice in Guadalajara. He serves as the Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon at multiple surgical facilities including in the capital, Mexico City.
